HIC NEEDS YOUR HELP! As we begin to enter a summer of scattered travel schedules, it is important that we plan ahead for homilies at HIC, since it is vital every week that the Word of God is proclaimed and expounded upon in worship. Moreover, giving a homily arguably requires more prep than any other aspect of worship, and so it is beneficial to have the schedule set in advance.
For all those interested, please use this form to let me know your availability for giving a homily over the summer. I hope to have the preaching schedule filled through August. All are welcome to sign up to give a homily at HIC, from experienced speakers to first-timers! Help and guidance are available for those who are interested but might find it a bit intimidating.
Once I have populated the list, it is my hope that no one person will preach more than once a month over the summer. Those who have signed up will receive a draft schedule to confirm.
You can see the weekly lectionary readings here.
Thanks so much! –J.P.

Did you know that nowadays most of HIC’s visitors find us via our website? HIC is thus looking for a creative and motivated Hanoi-based volunteer who understands the identity of HIC to take on the administration and development of our website. We need someone who can not only work with what is there, but also push the website into greater functionality according to the needs of a growing and thriving HIC. Candidates will need to be skilled in the WordPress platform and PHP.

The HIC Council, with the invaluable guidance of Jim Packard-Winkler, has been hard at work to discuss, identify, and put to words what HIC is and what HIC can grow to be. This has resulted in a Strategic Management Plan (SMP) draft. It is the Council’s hope that the SMP will guide us into the future as we plan our activities and programs, and also be an invaluable tool as HIC welcomes a new pastor.
Please note that the SMP is currently in draft form only. The Council needs the input of the entire HIC community in this effort. We want this document to represent HIC as accurately and compellingly as possible. Thus we have created a survey form that you can use to share your impressions and ideas. We welcome any and all feedback. Once feedback has been gathered and considered, a final draft will be circulated to the HIC membership for approval at a congregational meeting.
You can find the survey, which includes the SMP in its entirety, at
this link. The form can be completed quickly, but there are also spaces where fuller thoughts can be shared if you would like to (and we certainly encourage it!).
THE COUNCIL WILL ACCEPT SURVEY FORMS THROUGH THE END OF THE DAY ON MAY 11.
